Save Daphne!

The European Commission intends to put together the Daphne Programme, which combats violence against women, children and young people, with the Anti-Drugs Programme. Both, the Committee on Civil Rights, Justice and Home Affairs and the Committee on Women Rights and Gender Equality are against the merger of these politically unrelated programmes. Still the Commission insists, for administrative reasons as they say.

After many efforts of Lissy Groener, the rapporteur of the Daphne II Programme, the Commission promised they would suggest DAPHNE, nevertheless, as an independent Programme again if the arguments are reported clearly and by majority.

Please, help us making sure that as many letters as possible are sent to the Commission, first to the responsible commissioner Frattini, but also to the other commissioners. They should notice that they cannot subordinate another political women Programme like they already did with the Gender Equality Programme which was integrated in the PROGRESS Programme.
