Debates for 2009

The Socialist Group in the EP is organising 4 debates for young activists between December 2008 and March 2009. It is a good occasion for Young European Socialists and Social Democrats to debate with decision-makers topics that concern our generation. “It will be taboo-free and young people can share their concerns.” The first debate, 10-11 December, will be about migration and integration.

The aim of “The Young Socialist Dream” is to hold constructive debates aimed at exploring new paths to take on future European Union challenges, by braking away from political and academic analysis and to give open, taboo-free direct dialogue with the younger generation.

ECOSY – Young European Socialists are very delighted to extend the invitation of the Socialist Group in the European Parliament to all the member organisations and its activist. Together we bring Change for Europe in 2009!

TO YOUNG TO VOTE?

Malta Labour Party leader Joseph Muscat proposed in August 2008 to grant the right for 16 year olds to vote in local elections. And Austria has become the first European Union country to lower the voting age in national elections to 16 last September. Should 16 year olds be given the right to vote in the European Elections 2009?
