Social Europe for Everyone

In the last years the employment situation for especially young people in the EU has deteriorated to the worry of ECOSY – European Young Socialists. As the fundamental objective of the EU is to help raise the living standards and the quality of life of its citizens, it is the task of the EU to ensure a better future for young people. This entails not only economical growth performance, it includes fundamental social elements; achieving full employment, enhancing productivity and quality of work and fostering social cohesion and inclusion.

ECOSY – Young European Socialists has always committed itself to a debate on the future of Europe. The year 2005 and 2006 we have decided to devote ourselves to the project of "Building a Social Europe", that creates a stable and solidarity based European society in which all the people equally enjoy fundamental social rights. In July 2005, together with 1500 young comrades gathered at the ECOSY Summer Camp "Building together a Social Europe" – we have launched a campaign Social Europe for Everyone.

The aim of our campaign is to debate and precise the vision of a Social Europe and to promote it in the European Society, gaining acceptance for the dream that we hope and believe one day will be European reality. The leading idea of the campaign is composed of 8 topics, which reflect, what we as ECOSY believe to be priorities in constructing a Social Europe. Those are: International Solidarity, More and better jobs, Better Healthcare, Education for all, Public services, End poverty now!, Gender Equality, Same Sex Marriage. In framework of campaign ECOSY have already organized several activities, and will carry on with an agenda of further ones – from developing ideas during statutory meetings to topic related seminars.
